This special event will showcase a range of film work that represents queer film archive contributions from both Belfast and Cork and will allow an exciting opportunity for knowledge sharing on how to diversify our historical view of film. The Northern Ireland Now project runs with Nerve Centre and Northern Ireland Screen and aims to tackle underrepresentation in the film archives through collaboratively working with 12 community partners to contribute contemporary videos. Project coordinator Elspeth Vischer  and cataloguer Stephen Newe will showcase a range of videos that have been collected with LGBTQIA+ participants in Belfast and Derry and will be archived in a new collection within the Digital Film Archive. Cork LGBT+ Archives director Orla Egan will also present a range of short film materials that feature in their archives and discuss the importance of preserving this locally in a community-focussed way. Orla will be joined by Cork-based filmmaker and archive contributor, Carol O'Keeffe who will also screen a selection of her short film work that incorporates themes of queer identity. After the screening there will be a panel discussion and opportunity for audience members to ask questions about these exciting ongoing archive projects. Emma Bowell will speak about the Community Film Archive that they are establishing in Cork Community Media Hub and the Community Content project that involves the Cork LGBT Archive, amongst other communities, broadcasting some of their content on Cork Community Television.
